The difference between a laptop battery and a power adapter
The power supply of notebook computer includes battery and power adapter. The battery is the power source of notebook computer for outdoor work, and the power adapter is the essential component for charging the battery, and the preferred power source for indoor work.
1 Battery
The nature of laptop batteries is not much different from ordinary chargers, but manufacturers usually design and package the batteries according to the characteristics of laptop models. Multiple rechargeable battery packs are packaged in a designed battery case. At present, mainstream notebook computers generally use lithium ion batteries as the standard configuration, as shown in the picture on the right. In addition to lithium ion batteries, there are nickel-chromium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries and fuel cells used in notebook computers.
2 Power Adapter
When using a laptop computer in the office or where there is a power supply, it is generally powered by the laptop's power adapter, as shown in the picture on the right. The power adapter can automatically detect 100~240V AC (50/60Hz) and provide stable low voltage DC (generally between 12~19V) for the laptop.
Laptops generally have an external power adapter, connected to the host by a wire, which reduces the size and weight of the host, and only a few models have the power adapter built into the host.
Laptop power adapters are fully sealed miniaturized design, but their power is generally up to 35~90W, so the internal temperature is high, especially in the hot summer, touch the charging power adapter will feel hot.
When a laptop is turned on for the first time, the battery is usually not full, so users need to connect the power adapter. If the laptop is not used for a long time, users are advised to remove the battery and store the battery separately. In addition, it is recommended to research and discharge the battery at least once a month. Otherwise the battery may fail due to excessive discharge.
